Or, they feel like a tangible symbol will somehow ensure commitment. My fiancé and I waited 4 years without any ring, and now we’re going to wait several more years for a wedding because we’re secure in our relationship. We honestly would’ve waited longer but “boyfriend/girlfriend” just didn’t fit our dynamic anymore

At the end of the day though, if someone wants to put a ring on their ring finger without a real change in the relationship dynamic, it doesn’t affect me. It’s only awkward when I see someone with a ring, assume they’re married/engaged, only to find out they got it from their bf of 9 months.

Yeah see exactly.. it's like you want a serious symbol way too early with even less commitment than normal. That's just weird to me personally

Personally I feel like it minimizes the significance of an actual engagement. I felt brand new seeing a ring on my normally empty ring finger
