Gonna be vulnerable and tmi but does anyone have tips for self soothing? Been struggling mentally and at night the frustration of not having someone to hug and help me calm down makes me even more upset

Weighted blankets + heated blankets + cold room + candle that smells of good memories or something + music from childhood movies or actually playing a childhood movie

I hug stuffed animals to help but it doesn’t help much

Put your thumbs together with your palms facing your chest like a butterfly, and tap your chest. Butterfly taps can bring you back into you body

For me, I find makeup and braiding hair and stuff to be really soothing while listening to music or watching cute videos of animals

Bubble baths with a glass of wine and music or an audiobook are great too

I also find things like playing a wind instrument or singing to be really helpful because it forces me to control my breathing and slow down

Tysm for all the advice🩷 I used to play clarinet but I don’t own one now lol. I’ll try more breathing stuff though

I’m actually getting a recorder tomorrow to start playing it 😂 so maybe that’s an option for you
