Christians are SUPER split on this. My Catholic parents always told me that Jesus did sin and make mistakes, even though Mary didn’t, but since then I’ve heard many swear that actually Jesus disobeying his parents wasn’t a sin because ___________ _______ ____ _______ __ ___ __________ ___ ____ _____. _______ __ ___ _____ __ _ _____!
lmao fair, I think it’s an important part of Jesus’ story to acknowledge that he is imperfect because he is human. experiencing the human condition involved sin and mistakes and it’s inauthentic to me to say Jesus never sinned. one of the most emotional, climactic parts of the Bible, his crucifixion, involved him questioning his faith in an outcry. it’s extremely important to acknowledge that he can sin
In my opinion the Bible is like Shakespeare. Like yeah, if you look closely, you’ll find these deeper meanings and significant themes that connect to really thoughtful musings about human nature. That’s WHY people care about these works of fiction in the first place. But neither Shakespeare nor the Bible are actually evidence for any god.
idk i agree with her somewhat bc men have always ruled the world and as a result women are on the bottom of the totem pole and we keep getting our rights and stuff taken away too. i can see why she thinks the way she does honestly. the bible teaches you to be subservient and submissive to men so in a way she’s not totally wrong imo.
My brother in Christ the entire Bible is incredibly patriarchal. From declaring women on their periods to be so unclean you can’t even touch them without contaminating yourself to disallowing female church leaders to the portrayal of women’s role as to be submissive to men, the Bible is an incredibly patriarchal document.
i mean being religious and being subservient/submissive to men is reinforcing the patriarchy but that’s not a conversation a lot of people want to have. the best example of this i have is afghanistan women being forced to fully cover themselves including their faces. this is what happens when men and religion take over your society and culture. it’s not for the good of the people it’s for the power of men to feel like they are in control and if you don’t follow what they say they they’ll kill u
my point is that religion in general reinforces the patriarchy. the rules made, the things said, etc including the teachings. i just used one as an example bc what i was talking about was all over the internet a few weeks ago. your religion is not excluded in my conversation either it’s still included.
