Public assassination caught on camera is going to overshadow a school shooting on the same day. And both upset everyone, but when you have a lot of people cheering on the death of a person, there’s going to be more uproar

He literally said their deaths were worth it if it meant not having stricter gun laws and people are actually defending him??

That could be understandable when they happen on the same day, but when school shootings happen every other day of the year, the public uproar is never a fraction of what happened yesterday. I understand he’s a famous public figure but his life is not any more valuable or important than the hundreds of students killed or injured in school shootings. If people are going to react this way to his death, they sure as hell better react the same way when its innocent kids involved

I totally agree. I do think that again, it being all on camera and for everyone to rewatch is what’s causing such an uproar. Same case with the girl that was killed on the train, there wouldn’t have been as big of an uproar if we hadn’t seen the the video of her being murdered

Which to add onto that; should these videos of people people murdered be blocked or should they be seen? There’s a more visceral reaction to the issue at stake when people see it happening

I get that, and obviously agree that the footage just exacerbates the issue. I think in this case it was more so him as a person and the career he built that is contributing more to this outpouring of attention on him, which I know makes sense logically but in my heart it’s driving me nuts that this is the reason some people are finally speaking out about gun violence. It just seems incredibly ironic
