Can someone please explain to me why some women are so vehemently against women proposing to men? As a feminist I get so confused by this debate

i think it’s them projecting their fear onto other women of the man not being “into” the girl enough to propose. i don’t think there’s anything feminist about saying a woman shouldn’t propose i think it’s just fear.

I guess I don’t really care if someone else does it but I would never propose to a man. The man is supposed to spend a large amount of money on the ring and I am the prize, not him

Bc women are always the prize not the man so the man better step down and treat the woman like a baddie.

Ehh. That’s just the way I’ve been taught my whole life and that’s honestly how the men in my area view relationships

this is kind of wack the idea that you are more of a prize than a man inherently bc you’re a woman is more misandry than feminism. like I understand traditionally he’s supposed to drop hella cash on you, but that specific sentiment is wild

Never called it feminism. I don’t think it is. I’m from the south. Women contribute a LOT in relationships and are viewed as the prize. Always been that way

I am also from the south, and in all the happy relationships ive seen both parties are considered a prize. again i understand the tradition of spoiling the woman and buying her beautiful things, but that also stems from when women were only able to be housewives and spent all day doing work for the family. as long as both parties contribute in ways that prioritize the other, there’s nothing wrong with modernizing that concept
