i have 2b hair & low porosity. i try to look for products are are hydrating/have humectants. for styling i use hydrating curl spray, mousse, gel, and hair oil. i usually apply the first three using the bowl method, plop for 10-15 min, diffuse (low heat only), and then add oil afterwards to protect from uv/low moisture air

first thing to do is figure out your hair porosity. if u have fine, high porosity hair (like me) that gets weighed down really easily i would stay away from anything with oils/butters (shea moisture, cantu, etc- nothing wrong with them just not for that hair type) a light curl cream will def work best, add mousse (i like the NYM curl talk) for extra definition if you want, but absolutely do not skip gel. that’s what’ll hold your curls the best!! diffuse upside down until mostly dry xx

ik some people get worried about heat damage w hairdryers but the low heat + diffuser attachment makes the risk super low tbh

carol's daughter and shea moisture have rly good shampoos/conditioners imo. for product buildup i use ouai detox every few washes (no hard and fast rule, just whenever i feel i need to). for styling i like innersense, giovanni la, and herbal essence (i use innersense for when i wanna use more expensive products, giovanni & herbal essence when i'm camping). for oil i use stuff traditional to my culture but generally argan oil works pretty well for fine hair
