A lot of the curly girl method works for wavy hair too, you just gotta use lighter products. I recommend looking it up bcos it tells you all sorts of tests and recommended products and whatnot

It looks to me like you have fine hair so you definitely need light weight products tho

for now your hair is wavy, you'll learn if it's curly after taking care of it and styling. if it's been long term neglect it'll take a bit to bring out your curl pattern. everyone's hair is diff so you'll be trying out diff products until you find ones that work for you. start with finding out your hair porosity and hair type, google has a bunch of guides for these. stop dry brushing it, detangle in the shower with conditioner. like other's said your hair seems quite fine so look for light

products. you don't have to style your hair all the time but if you want to bring out the waves/curls that's where they're going to be most defined. everyone has their own products so again, experiment and find what works but for me i usually spray it with heat protectant, a hydrating curl spray (kinda works as a super light leave-in but you can use a light leave in cream), mousse (volume), and gel (holding the curls/waves). i like to plop for 10-15 min before diffusing but you can go straight

to diffusing. hover dry first to create a cast and experiment w diff diffusing styles to see what works best for you. you can get diffuser attachments for like $15 at walmart or the beauty supply store.
