Sabrina’s album cover is not affecting anyone. It’s not setting women back. Yall r just leaving being hateful to & demonizes a woman for a fucking picture. It’s NOT Bonnie blues zoo & it’s NOT Sydney’s soap. If u think it’s comparable- touch grass.

I’m SO sick of this contradictory feminism. Yall are acting like ur personally affected by this and you’re not- you just wanna be hateful to a woman who did something that ruffled your damn feathers even tho she’s an artist & part of art is making ppl uncomfortable.

Also like…pop girls have done controversial/shocking things in their art for years. Pearl clutching so hard over this when gaga and rihanna have done things 10x more controversial 15 years ago is very funny to me.

People don’t understand that the biggest part of whether or not sexualization is bad is CONSENT. Sabrina’s sexualization is intentionally self-perpetuated and enjoyed. She’s expressing herself and loving every minute of it. That’s not setting us back, it’s actually spring boarding us forward because women existing as independently sexual beings is strictly taboo. The issue with Billie Eilish being sexualized (or regular girls at the gym, etc) is the lack of consent.

Setting women back is internalized misogyny as a woman yourself. Sabrina isn’t harming women. The media has always criticized women in the entertainment industry, and even in less documented jobs (like office jobs etc). You can’t go around town without men staring at you and saying something ridiculous. Sabrina herself has even recognized that they’ve been doing this with Britney Spears and now they’re doing this with her, which shows we have not grown at all as a society.

She, a woman, is comparing herself to a dog. This is inherently demoralizing. However, if this is the content you wish to enjoy, more power to you.

She’s been marketing herself as openly sexual so my first through was that it’s a petplay and dom/sub thing, but it could also be a metaphor for male and female relationships in society, if it is then I highly doubt she would be in favor of an anti feminist message

You’re extrapolating way too far. The phrase “man’s best friend” is universally recognized as referring to dogs. Sabrina isn’t wearing a costume or joking. She’s literally naming her album after a phrase used for dogs and building the imagery around that. That’s not just a vibe or a metaphor, or even a “fursona”, it’s the title. That distinction matters.

When women’s sexuality or self-expression is reduced to how well they can serve or please men, even in a “cute” or “playful” way, it stops being liberating and starts feeding right back into the same dynamics we claim to be moving past.

These things always start as “not that deep” until underlying sentiments appear in politics. I’m not saying Sabrina is a bad person. I’m not saying she’s a bad artist. I just think we need to pay attention to the larger impacts of artists like these as they can influence culture as a whole.

Billie loudly voiced her opposition many times and people were sexualizing her because of her body, literally objectifying her. Unacceptable. Sabrina is sexualizing herself based on her personality more than anything but also expressing it in her art, fashion, and yes she’s showing off her body too. She’s **subjectifying** herself because she’s taken an active role in the narrative.

The issue was never about calling people sexy, it was abt doing it when they didn’t want you to. The fact that there’s so many women who don’t understand the difference between a woman expressing her sexuality and a woman being sexually harassed is so!! Fucking!! Concerning!!!!!!!!!

I mean, based on Manchild alone I think the title is sarcastic. The whole song is about how men are stupid little play things. “Man’s best friend” coupled with her expression and the vinyl art of a man worshipping at her feet really makes it seem like “he thinks I’m doing this for him, but I’m doing it all for me - I have the power here”
