I found it more ableist because the argument I kept hearing was “well there’s this report that says she could see light and hear super loud noises so she wasn’t blind and deaf” not taking to account that many blind or deaf people still have a slight ability to see and hear but nowhere near enough to be considered able bodied.
Especially when you take into account how she became blind and deaf and how many people that are not born with that disability end up with it like be fr? You know you can become blind/deaf as you get old and it’s basically the same like some illness degrades your abilities and that doesn’t mean there’s a consistency in how blind/deaf you get and how fast it happens
So some facts about Keller flying 1. It was only 20 minutes of a longer flight 2. She was assisted slightly as she had no prior training 3. Her portion of the flight was reported to be the smoothest Another fun fact is then 15yo Katie Inman, who is also deaf-blind, piloted an entire flight with only slight assistance in 2012.
