Thissss bro. And bouncing off of it, Why are you getting a tiny ass apartment then buying a fucking husky?? There’s so many instances of this and it genuinely makes me think people just view dogs as an accessory and not an animal with needs

Having a dog that’s only allowed on leash when you have a yard is actually cruel. I know fences are expensive but if you’re dropping 5k on vacations and whatnot you can afford to get a fenced in yard. Dogs NEED to be able to run around and explore

someone i knew that lives in an apartment got a fucking bernese mountain dog and then guess what? about 5 months later when cute little puppy wasn’t a puppy a anymore, she wanted to rehome him because he wasn’t cute & was extremely under stimulated

it definitely does and it’s super frustrating because a lot of people don’t do any research on what dog they’re getting & it’s just based on aesthetics.

i don’t believe there is any “starter” dog breed. golden retrievers seem to be put into that “starter”/ “easy”category constantly. they do require as much work as any other dog and they are retrievers. they need “jobs” or at the very least a lot of exercise and stimulation. which on one hand, a lot of people do get them as family pets and ig the kids tire them out but it’s also just … they’re not easy. no dog is “easy” they all have unique temperaments/personalities and breed specific needs
