I learned to crochet by buying a ball of yarn and a single hook and just tried random ass things till that yarn was gone. Chains, single and double crochets, a granny square a flowers a little bag basically just get used to doing it and learn tension before you start a whole project. You’ll start to recognize what each stitch looks like and if you did something you’ll be able to see mistakes etc
