are you looking for like a gradual mental health thing or more of like a one night self care kinda thing

longterm surviving seasonal depression: i have a schedule and i stick to it every day, i have set morning and night routines that allow me to mentally prepare and then decompress from my day. i also bring my room/bathroom back to “baseline” clean once a day so i let myself be as messy as i want but i have to clean it within 24 hours so it never gets too crazy

shortterm: i love taking a bath if you have access to one, if not a nice shower with good music and the lights off feels nice, i like to drink a warm drink like hot cocoa or cider and watch seasonal movies and shows. right now im rewatching gossip girl for thanksgiving prep and that’s an important part of my decompression at the end of the day but can also be like a one-off thing. honestly if you need to clean making progess on your space feels incredible

when im overwhelmed with workload i make to-do lists for the next day and then reward myself in the evening for completing that day’s list with an edible but a sweet treat or something would work too. really just be kind to yourself it’s hard in the winter. it really helps for me to think of myself as an animal like i think about how zookeepers provide enrichment and comfortable places to stay and decompress
