a red flag in men i have noticed: when i talk about SA victims and their first and immediate reaction is to bring up men who are falsely accused of SA

For most men, their biggest fear is allegations. For some reason, they don’t understand how getting assaulted is worse than being accused of it.

LITERALLY LIKE SURE THERE ARE FALSE ACCUSATIONS BUT THAT SHOULDNT BE YOUR IMMEDIATE RESPONSE

I firmly believe it’s the men who have ABSOLUTELY done things on the line that are the “false allegation” responders. No man who actually respects boundaries and women in bed and thinks of their safety and comfort would feel at risk of being accused.

i never know how to react when they go “WELL MEN GET ASSAULTED TOO” like yes.. they do. i’m aware. it’s just as bad. your point??😭

Omg I used to have a friend who was a GIRL that would do this shit. She’d constantly say she doesn’t believe all victims right away because a lot of girls like to lie to try and ruin a guys life. She had no idea I was a victim myself but I sure as hell wasn’t gonna open up to her after hearing that shit. Not friends with her anymore.

they somehow think that being accused of rape is worse than being raped. when in fact, most rapes are never even reported and of those that are, most accused will never be convicted. look at monica lewinsky, that was clear sexual misconduct and abuse of power by the president, and yet she faced all the consequences.

The avg man is closer in proximity to a rapist than a falsely accused

I always like to remind them that real accusations and convictions don’t ruin a man’s life.

And they act like it’s super common for false allegations to put men in jail. As if it’s not basically impossible to prove rape to put a man in jail even when he did it.

They also don’t seem to understand that they are more likely themselves to be victims of sexual assault than falsely accused of it

Examples: the men that don’t ask, the men that keep asking, the men that insist on not using condoms, the men that assume birth control is permission to not use a condom, the men that assume that once you’re doing it they can just do whatever they want during it, and many more!

I don’t think it’s just them anymore, there is so much propaganda about false accusations in men’s social circles now that I think men that would never have done something anyway are still worried about it Now, I think it was started and is most amplified by the men who’ve done things, but it’s not just them anymore Kids are being told this by older siblings and online and stuff, it’s become pervasive in the culture

the number of men i know who have committed these sorts of crimes but got away with it because it would just be a he said she said game is really upsetting. it happens a lot in relationships & the boyfriends won’t even admit what they did was wrong :/ i always think about how common it must be when you include all the cases that don’t get reported

Not only that, but there are plenty of women who DO report it and it never even gets to court because their rape kits are backlogged. Those rape kits also help connect crimes, not just prevent the offender from repeating.

i also find it weird that false allegations and wrongful convictions are often brought up by white frat bros talking about SA, when a more productive convo would be wrongful convictions in our justice system causes by racial profiling & the very flawed eye witness testimony behind it

Okay to be fair I’m going to offer my pov, no one has to agree but. I’m a girl and I have been sa multiple times, and I never understood why men got afraid of false accusations until it happened to me. A boy I had previously been with started dating a girl months after we were together and his new girlfriend went around telling everyone I sa him. I spoke to him on the side and he said she made up that narrative and that he tries to tell her I never sa him. So yes it is scary that people can

I really think most men don’t know how rare convictions are even in genuine 🍇 cases. Some just assume most perpetrators are convicted.

Unfortunately, yes. This is precisely what’s happened, I’m so deadass. Even those who haven’t done anything are scared shitless by the possibility of accusations

I mean, not as often, but there is a long history of black men being lynched after false accusations by white women Generally if the people are of more similar position in other hierarchies the men won’t be too affected, but when there are other power dynamics at play they can be (not to say they always are, just that it’s much more likely)

Absolutely, yes. Lynchings were almost often based on completely false accusations. However they were racially motivated, not motivated by sex or gender. They didn’t truly care that a rape had potentially occurred. They just wanted an excuse to murder a POC. And in the modern day, there’s nothing comparable. A convicted rapist and child predator is the president of the United States. It’s all hypocrisy.

It’s not motivated by sex or gender, no, but racially motivated false accusations absolutely still happen in the modern day
