If it’s really that big of a concern get those plastic slipcovers for the couch or something, don’t punish your guests for being in the general outdoors

okay but bed and furniture are completely different imo. couches are for sitting on so yeah if you won’t let people sit there with their “outside clothes” that’s weird. but bed i understand, especially if maybe they just washed the sheets, or they only get into bed after showering or smth like that

That literally sounds like what someone with OCD would ask in my opinion I think you’re the bad friend because you haven’t talked to them about this and you’re sitting here bitching about them online instead of growing up and having a discussion with them

This situation didn’t happen. I’m just complaining because I’ve seen people online talking about not wearing outside clothes in bed.

Girl I think you need to take a break from the internet you seem to be projecting hard on OP here.

I think the bed part was brought up in the sense that the bed is usually where you sit in a dorm that has no where else to seat in it.

As someone with pretty bad contamination OCD I do completely understand why someone would be uncomfortable with someone not having the “right” clothes on to sit somewhere. But also because I am someone with contamination OCD like amethyst said I have plastic covers on my couches and chairs and I just don’t let people except for myself and my bf go into my bedroom. It’s entirely about communication and explaining what’s going on, like you have to actually talk to each other

I mean you don’t have to be friends with everyone and you’re allowed to have your boundaries. 🤷‍♀️

You shouldn’t have someone get mad at you because they didn’t explain their situation

I’m sorry I don’t want to have to police my body just because someone thinks my clothes are dirty

i guess, but your bed is where you sleep. even if theres nowhere else to sit idt its that weird to be picky about your bed.

I guess not, really depends on the bed set up (lofted or not, comforter or no comforter, etc)

There are other solutions to this besides breaking off a friendship just cuz they have different house rules than you my god

This is all kinda a moot point considering OP has explicitly stated this is a hypothetical but I would look at 7’s comments about the situation.

There are way better things that would be worthy to break a friendship off for. Not some fucking house rules lmao. Just don’t go to their house

Frankly, your feelings on the validity of OP’s reasoning doesn’t matter. If that’s the hill she wants to die on let her.

Why are you bringing race into this??? Why are you arguing over a hypothetical in the first place???

Because cultures are different and have different values. So by saying you won’t be friends with people who don’t allow outside clothes on furniture, you’re actually saying you won’t be friends with x ethnicity

Why do you care so much what OP’s friendship preferences are? You don’t have her friend if you don’t like how she thinks
