I think it’s some nostalgia trend, like for the millennials who have money to buy the stuff they always wanted as kids and I guess Pokémon cards are one of those things

it depends. i got into after buying my bf a couple packs and i find it fun that you never know what you’ll get in a pack. however, scalpers have made it increasingly difficult for collectors to actually get product to open. and its an investment hobby which sucks for me because whenever i pick up a new hobby i go all in and i need to slow down, but it is fun trying to collect the cards. i think at some point i’ll probably sell my stuff to legit collectors and keep a few things for me

For me it’s the new starters and the rumor that there will be new eeveelutions. I just keep looking for updates on them and I like unboxing videos where people show how much cards are worth, there is also the guy who makes 3D evolution cards. Idk I think people are having fun and being artistic with it

that perspective makes sense. on the other hand, i know someone who never touched the cards until they were like 20 and has spent thousanddssss of dollars on the cards and just keeps them in boxes in their closet. it just seems so unnecessary

Yeah I don’t understand that at all, it’s so much money and for what 😭 it’s gonna sit there for ages while they’re hoping the value goes up but trends can’t be trusted as financial investments since they’re so fickle
