Acting like there’s not a documented wage gap between people who are “obese” and people who fit social weight norms

You literally only conditionally support them. They have to be a good fat that hates themselves

i wouldn't want them to hate themselves, no one should have to deal with that. but as with any medical issue seeking treatment improves qol. being obese is often a symptom of something else

You’re pushing a lot of rhetoric that leads ppl to hate themselves. Like I said, if you actually cared about their health you’d be respectful to their experience (not laugh at it) and treat them like they belong in the world at any size thru reasonable accommodations. Isolation and shame leads to worse health outcomes and that’s what you’re proposing when you say they don’t deserve accommodations to equitable access in society

i never laughed at their experience. i wouldn't be disrespectful to someone just bc they're fat. but people were not this big a couple generations ago, it's not normal it's a symptom of other things and a result of the fucked up greedy food corporations and the systems that let them exist. i'm not arguing against fat ppl existing and being respected on a personal level im arguing against the idea that being obese is normal, natural, and causes no negative outcomes. people can respect people--

Yeah you laughed at the concept of fatphobia repeatedly Why aren’t you targeting the systemic barriers to health and instead of singling out ppl who look a certain way? “Obese” is not an actual thing if you did research into it. It’s based off BMI which was never meant to assess health and only studied white men. We live in a very fatphobic society, they’re very much aware you think they’re at death’s door and are aware of what’s healthy. They’re not stupid. Ur making it about individualism

Enabling what? They’re literally just existing… again you’re talking about a body type and not diet and exercise. Who said to ignore inequitable health access? We shouldn’t. That’s what we should target. Not “individuals making bad choices”

the body type shows something it's not separate from everything else. i'm not even saying all obese ppl are "individuals who make bad choices" (though some are). what im saying is if a person is obese while eating and exercising a normal amount that should not just be written off and considered normal. there's likely something else going on, like pcos, hormone issues, gut flora imbalances, thyroid issues, that need to be addressed. and so arguing that obesity is normal and something ppl just---

and obesity is absolutely a thing? bmi may not be a good scale but there's an amount of adipose tissue that does start causing negative health outcome and affecting a persons life
