I’ve tried, a lot of social work and HR requires a whole degree set. There’s been a few that didn’t exactly specify what reqs they wanted. Like one company that sold seeds, or a concrete buisness. I got rejection emails a month later, which was a few days ago. I just got a rejection from a foster care advocate that seemed really hopeful and they made it out like my experience was good enough and all. Nope. No reason given too. I’m so lost. I just want a job that pays me like $22/hr that’s all.

It feels like my ONLY option is fast food/retail. If they even hire me. DoorDash. Or go back to being a substitute or a parapro. I don’t want any of that, nor does it pay enough for me to even think of saving a few bucks to try and move out. Even then, if I did save enough, I wouldn’t have enough to continue a rent. 22/hr can’t support that so like. I really just want enough to get by and maybe not be stressed when I get invited out anywhere.

I’m in HR and a bachelors in psych is enough to start as a coordinator/admin at least. They’ll often prefer PHR/SHRM-CP but you don’t strictly need it. Try networking with your local SHRM chapter to bypass the application black hole.

Idk what that is, I just looked up the 2 closest places and they don’t have anything in their website for careers, only a place to post a job listing for members. Or I gotta pay to join their ‘chapter?’ I don’t really need a club to network, I need like a job listing yk

Yeah it’s a professional club. If you wait for a job listing, you’re up against everybody and their mom. If you network, you can get hired without a job ever being posted.

I’m not really into that, id be driving 2 hours for meeting. I don’t really care abt networking, unless it’s teaching bc yea I want to actually do what I want. That’s extreme lengths just for a job and I gotta pay for this? To work hr??? Dog, I just need mfs on indeed etc to pull some weight here and NOW, I can’t even afford my PF membership anymore.

Okay then don’t. But networking is how you get a job in 2026.
