First of all I am so so sorry this happened to you I’ve been in a similar situation and I didn’t want to report it at all but eventually things happened and it ended up being reported I feel like you should do what feels best to you reach out and get the support you need If you do end up telling a therapist or something they are mandatory reporters so it will be reported Take care of yourself drink water, eat, focus on school but if you’re deeply hurting reach out and get support

same thing happened to me. tell your friends, tell everyone you know. be as loud as possible about it & get everyone involved. Don’t back down because it WILL become a pattern from this man. Do it for your closure and for the safety of the women after you.

Girlie I’m so sorry to hear this I agree with the person that told you to be as loud as possible bc the more attention you bring the more likely it is for other girls to speak up

tell, be loud so they can’t silenced you. my only mistake was talking about it 5 years too late.

if you are a university student, contact the title ix office. title ix coordinators are professionally trained in helping you through this situation and generally not required to report anything to the police without your consent.

i am so so sorry. same thing happened to me and it took me a long time to tell my mom but it really did help me not having to carry everything on my own. i know it’s hard but depending on how your relationship is with your mom i would tell her. i had to have a lot of conversations with my mom about not wanting to report it and although it took a little bit of time she was understanding. you are so so strong, supported, and loved

It depends on your relationship with her. If y’all have a good relationship then tell her. It gets lonely having to carry that weight alone and my mom helped me in ways that no one else can just because she is my mom. And just like everyone else has said if your comfortable with it then be loud. Being loud is how you find support and community

Therapists are only mandated reporters for sexual assault if there is a vulnerable party involved (child, elder, dependent/disabled adult). Please speak with a therapist!!

Ladies don’t be scared to name drop after letting somone know what happend to you. Also make sure you forgive yourself also and don’t hate yourself.

when it happened to me a few years ago i went to my primary doctor to get medical attention and it turned out she was mandated to report it, which i didn’t really want to because i didn’t feel like any justice would come of it. when the police called me, i just told them i didn’t want to talk to them and they couldn’t make me. of course they tried and asked me if i was sure etc, but if you don’t want to press charges they can’t make you

my point is, definitely seek care (physical and mental) and don’t let fear of the reporting aspect get in the way of that
