Does anyone know if this is specifically New York that the laws are different or something that makes it easier for people to get away with things like this? I know New York is the only state in the country where teachers can have sex with 17-year-old students and not get charged because the age of consent of 17. Even if the age of consent is 16 if you sleep with someone who’s up to 18 I think you can still go to jail because you’re their teacher. (In other states.)

I mean stupid as in no half intelligent person would do anything like what they did. Not even talking about the larger crime at hand, but giving an extremely drunk person a line of ketamine is so incredibly dangerous. It’s genuinely a miracle she didn’t die right then. And that’s only a small detail of the bigger picture. Discussing it where there will be a digital footprint is another thing. They’re reckless, lack empathy, and are generally stupid.

Believe me, I know exactly what you mean and I’m definitely not saying they’re stupid to the point of not being accountable or “making one dumb mistake”. They’re not. They just acted impulsively and violently without thinking about any of the consequences because they didn’t care and I’m sure they thought they would get away with it. Which unfortunately at first they absolutely did :/

All these texts are showing is that she was immediately uncomfortable with the situation and only consented to sex with two of the men, without the drugs. She was clearly trying to keep the peace because that’s what she wanted and she hoped it would happen the way she wanted in the future, but after they cut her off she stopped being so nice.
