Hey, so It actually is that phone. I can’t even think in complete sentences. I was on my phone 12 hours a day during the summer semester as a coping mechanism I think, due to isolation on campus. I find it interesting that I’m noticing myself not being

this is so real. i have less of a desire to use my phone when i’m in a better place mentally. i feel bad so i use my phone and then my phone makes me feel bad

The best advice I have is to change your phone to grayscale 🙂‍↕️ apps work rlly hard to make the colors engage our animalistic brains and graying everything out makes it super boring. Also setting super strict time limits on apps, even if you ignore them (also, always use “ignore for 15 minutes” instead of plain ‘ignore’, so it’ll keep bothering you)

You’re so right. For the past few months, I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong with me. Like, my attention span is so low and it’s so difficult for me to retain new information. I’m on my phone 24/7 bc nothing else interests me anymore. This + barely sleeping = disaster. My words get all jumbled up when I’m speaking. Little simple things that were never a problem is ruining me lol

I became illiterate literally now I do other activities, read and go outside. I couldn’t think in complete sentences either 🙏🏻

I noticed I was having issues about doom scrolling and such. I started putting limits on apps I use. My phone still says 12+ hours a day but that’s because I listen to YouTube to sleep. I’m only my phone for like 4 active hours a day!

Me too. And, you’re actually making me feel better knowing it’s not just me. We have to turn this around and retrain our brains. No chat gpt, we have to workout our brains, love. I feel like I’m a human from wall-E

yeah that’s what i’m saying too, that’s why addictions are coping mechanisms. people become alcoholics because they’re using alcohol to numb the pain. they are still actively in pain while having an addiction though, so they continue to use it to self soothe

Do as I say not as I do tho bcos I got too bored w the grayscale and turned it off and constantly ignore my insta limit and don’t have a yikyak limit 🥰 but anyways that’s not relevant

I turned it back on and it’s immediately sad again lmao even in yikyak, which I didn’t realize relied on color… anyway for iPhones it’s settings > accessibility > display and text size > color filters > toggle “on”

update still doomscrolling but way less overstimulated and it actually made me want to reply back to texts i’ve been avoiding. like my brain can chill now and be filled with other things. i also feel like im in the giver

Maybe more if you count Spotify usage but yeah screen time limits has really helped me realize how much time I was wasting.
