Yall need to STFU why are sitting here arguing as if it’s not true that the job market isn’t great you’ll rarely hear back from jobs where you’ve sent applications I should not have to hound a job calling almost everyday just to get in touch with a hiring manager to be able to come in for an interview you bitches just love to fucking argue
Im working fast food bc lets be real the better paying jobs don’t want to hire new grads and I can’t blame them . A degree is nothing to them but a paper you bought. You either get in via nepotism or accept flipping patties. The job market is trash absolutely but there are also people who think they are too good for “bad jobs”. I finally got a job when I gave up on finding something id like and just looked for places w 0 standards
i’ve been applying to jobs for over a month now, haven’t heard a single thing back. i followed up on practically every one that still said “application reviewed” — which is BS because the status changed to that the second i submitted my application — absolutely no one is getting back to me, no one is rejecting me at the very least. the jobs are still active/open too, i’m going insane.
Oh btw my boss now. I talked to him about Indeed and about applying and it seems that no one is answering no joke he said this “Oh shit.. I posted a job on indeed. I forgot about it. And in the previous years when I did there were so many people I couldn’t keep track” UM HELLO SIR??😭
I was really close with my boss at my last job and he blatantly said it’s bc of the push for higher wages. They can’t ‘afford’ to pay for the amount of employees needed to work and still make the same profit margins. Now tbf this was a locally owned franchise so maybe they couldn’t afford it. People want higher minimum wage companies are only going to give hours to their best employees
it may depend on what your resume looks like and how your applying, going in places always works a little better because they see your making an effort, and also if you don’t have a lot of previous experience maybe put any sort of skills you got from like clubs and stuff, or maybe if you like babysat or pet sat, still count that as work experience
Employees just not showing up is also a huge current problem apparently people just ghost jobs, miss work for no reason or take “mental health days” out of the blue across all jobs. Idk if it’s the burnout or indicative of a larger problem but ig thats why they care so much about you having experience and showing you aren’t flakey
For example 5 years ago I got $9.50 an hour to cashier slightly higher than $7.25 bc I was a honors student!. It was cheeper for the company to give younger less experienced candidates a chance. Now minimum wage is $15 who are you going to choose? A college student who will only work for 3 months or someone who has a proven record of being able to work and more experience. Not saying it’s fair, but there’s a lot of economic factors that play into it
they don’t pay minimum wage. they give you a paycheck of 400 per month for 2 months, and then say “your tips and the end of the summer will make up for lost wages” and they don’t because they tell the parents tipping is extremely optional!!! btw 8-9 hours 5 days a week in the hot sun.
specifically, solar sale companies will reach out to me and say that they’re impressed with my resume, (that’s filled with childcare jobs btw— makes no sense) and that they want to set up an interview and then I’ll look up the company online and it’s nowhere to be found and I also can’t find the employer online either. Also, after I submit my resume on, indeed, I find that I get a lot of scam calls and texts specifically for called car dealerships that my car needs repair.
OH that reminds me, i applied to a local sub shop the summer before i went back for my senior year of college, and they straight up said "yea since ur leaving so soon, we cant hire you bc we cant train you that quickly. thanks for your application!" and that was the sole reason i wasnt hired was bc i was leaving in 3 months. like bitch, how tf does it take 3 months to train someone??? tell me. like at my current job, it took about a week maybe 3?? idk but it sure as hell didnt take 3 months.
you sound like u dont have experience at all. ur not gonna take a whole college degree (weather ur graduated or still in persuit of said degree) off ur resume, just to get a stupid retail job or job at a fast food restaurant. and my friends always told me to lie on my interviews, yea thats not gonna work out buddy. i would much rather have the highest integrity and for people to be able to trust me, rather than not.
like what does that say if you always lie on an interview just to get a job?? no job is worth lying for, im sorry. and then it just keeps spiraling and spiraling and spiraling and you have to come up with more lies to cover the lies you already told??? like at that point you are just lying your way throughout your whole career?? and thats not the kind of life i wanna live.
