Southerner here: that label either means you’re REALLY vocal about being atheist (which I assume is not the case) or (more likely) you’re totally normal about it but your friends are ultra religious and have never had even an agnostic friend before.

i’m vocal about it in the way that i’ve been invited to church multiple times and always say “no, i’m an atheist, thanks tho” and that’s it lmaoo. it’s just my hometown friends who never drop it, and like make fun of me for still liking christmas. idk it’s all weird.

Yeah it’s definitely the second option. A lot of churches around here preach that you should convert as many people as possible, even if they are not interested or have another religion already. The first step is usually repeated invites to church. If it’s too much for you to handle or you feel like they’re pressuring you too much you might want to consider distancing yourself from them.
