we have it too good that people have started thinking this is just the way it is. like your friend who decides she doesn’t need her meds anymore because she feels better (because of the meds)

my dad is named after his uncle who died at age 11 from polio in the 1950s. people are forgetting too quickly what these diseases do

like the fallout from that death echoed through his family for years. my great grandma never really recovered, neither did my grandpa, and my grandpa had another brother who was died the same year as my grandpa (2020) but i never met because he was an abusive alcoholic.
