purity culture genuinely freaks me the fuck out like i don’t understand wanting someone so pure to the point where they have no sexual experience and degrading them if they do… like as an adult i almost expect someone to have some experience idk.

And even if they’re not religious, I still believe it stems from those religious beliefs making their way into mainstream culture

that’s true… i also think it’s weird when non religious people want their partner to be a virgin LIKE WHAT ARE WE DOING

The emphasis put on virginity makes no sense to me, when I lost my virginity it’s not like I became a different person or something, I felt exactly the same

Dont rush it or do it just to do it but also try not to get in your head about it too much, virginity is a social construct

Oh. Yeah it’s not a biological reality. The hymen being in tact or not means nothing and idk why society still holds onto those like ancient beliefs from the times they thought the cure to mental illness was to drill holes into peoples heads to help the demons escape 😭 my hymen wasn’t intact and some people are still so uneducated that they think no pain or bleeding makes you a liar about being a virgin

it’s just all about controlling women and treating them as property, that’s it

Caused by media and society and largely a thing in media and society indirectly from religion even if it has no direct correlation to you
