As a mother with your small child, why, when I tell you my CANE CORSO doesn’t like children repeatedly would you encourage your child to walk up and pet her to the point I have to physically redirect your kid??? Are we being fr?!

People need to teach their children to not run up on dogs they don’t know, I had a lady scream at me because her kid ran behind my dog and grabbed his fur and he reacted by nipping because he is VERY nervous and reactive around children. Like yes it’s 100% my fault your child ran up behind us and scared my dog. Especially when he has a vest that says PLEASE DONT TOUCH ME

as someone with a 220 pound english mastiff i don’t even let kids touch/pet him bc he also doesn’t really like them either

100%. And it blows me bc I could maybeee understand if it was a golden retriever or a little shih tzu. But a 100lb dog thats almost as tall as the kid?? Even if I said she was friendly, why would let ur child walk up on a big ass dog they don’t know💀

also he can knock kids over bc he’s taller than they are so… just no. he can say hi to adults when they ask but other than that i choose to keep him away from people in public. so many people want these dogs as first time dog owners and it’s BAFFLING.

I have a Pyrenees Mastiff mix and he may look friendly because he’s big and fluffy but he’s very very nervous, he’s also 150lbs so he’s absolutely massive. If he knows the children he’s more calm around them and he will let them pet him, but strangers are a big no no for him and I wish more people would understand that not all dogs are friendly right off the get go. Especially when they’re startled .

fr. i was raised with rotties and ridgebacks so im well aware of what it takes for these working breeds. and i train them to not be aggressive. but they’re products of environment and athena has never been around kids, so she gets reactive. ima have to get a dont touch me vest i think, bc even though shes cool w adults apparently it needs to be loud and clear to protect kids😵‍💫

this. and people need to also stop saying their dogs are “protection” dogs when in reality they’re resource guarding and they’re aggressive on top of that. no shade.
