I’m so fortunate my parents raised me to work hard and value money, while still supporting me. I don’t have any debt, so I help my fiancé pay off his. I understand the importance of tipping because they had me work as a waitress. It’s just terrible parenting imo, you can grow up rich and not be totally ignorant

like reality check: a lot of us can’t be supported by our families and we will talk about it. that doesn’t mean family doesn’t care or that you’re lazy but it is hard to constantly be around ppl who don’t pay for their own things and put everything on their parents card. they tend to be out of touch and are the ones vemmo requesting $2 for a uber they made you go in

My bf’s sister is like this and it drives me crazy. She sits in the house all day in House of CB dresses and Prada sandals, and just orders whatever she wants off of DoorDash when she’s hungry.

I didn’t work in college my parents helped with tuition when they could and loans covered the rest but I also couldn’t afford to do anything and I also just didn’t have friends. Now I’m graduated and working to pay off my student loans and I can afford to have friends!

Guilt usually. They know they’re more fortunate to be in those circumstances and feel as though they’re being blamed depending on how its framed. Or they’re shitheads who flaunt their money and know they’re irresponsible

My old roommate was one of those, though. She would work all summer just to buy one designer product, then would force me and our other roommate to pay her back for like a $5 burger or uber or whatever other insignificant charge. Like read the room girl

same, the only thing that bugs me is when people assume i’m super wealthy and judge me or expect me to pay for shit. like i’m graduating without student debt rich not yacht rich, i’ll buy you coffee/food but i’m not buying all the furniture for our apartment

Oh girl I just went through that 🥲 I’m like barely able to afford my rent, bills, that loan, and other essential expenses, with a bit to spare. I saved up like $1k to take my now former best friend on her bachelorette trip, and she just uninvited me from the wedding when she could’ve months ago. I definitely feel used and now I’m down $1k for no fucking reason
