As long as you aren’t endangering lives or doing incredibly illegal things on the road, you’re already better than 80% of licensed drivers tbh

I mean just drive around in parking lots and back roads at first

I’m still doing things that are considered perceived risk but it’s hard for me to watch everything at once

What are you struggling with the most? But honestly, I get it! Driving is hard and there’s so much constantly going on. It’s one of those things that TRULY gets so much easier and comfortable with more practice. Hell, I’ve been driving since I could first get my license and I STILL make some questionable mistakes 😭

I struggle with looking in all directions while turning and I either turn too fast or too slow, either being too close or too far from the curb or parked car, and controlling my speed

A lot of our back roads go straight for a while so it doesn’t really help

yes so did mine. that was still better than starting off on a normal road when I was still nervous and risking lives

Ahhh I see. Honestly, the turning too fast/too slow really just comes with practice, as does controlling your speed (do you mean like, controlling a constant speed?). It’s just getting a sense of your car. Have you been driving around in empty parking lots? That helped me a lot when I was just getting used to everything! It’s so much easier to practice when you’re not worried abt hitting anything or getting hit

Like I’m okay in parking lots since I’m going at a slower speed but on the real roads where the speed limit changes I find myself going too fast or too slow. Idk how to keep my foot in the same position to maintain my speed so I end up easing up too much and dropping to like 25 when the limit is 40

Yeah I started off in parking lots then residentials but doing it on a normal road is where I really get choked up bc there’s way too much going on at once

A little speed fluctuation is normal, but yea 40 to 25 is a bit drastic. If the speed limit is changed from like 45 to 40, you just need to ease up on the gas like the tiniestttt amount. Whatever position your foot is at when it reaches 40, just try to maintain that! Try to make the change slowly so you can pay attention to what it feels like. It takes getting used to tho tbh. I find that when I focus on it, the worse I am at it actually. You’ll eventually be able to judge certain speeds by feel
