Sure but so could you communicating how he can support you. It's not fair to expect him to automatically know what the perfect thing to say is when you say something like that

Yes this!!! You need to communicate what you need and how it made you feel and give him a chance to work on it. If he's able to do that great, if not maybe this isn't your time to be together. Either way he's not a mind reader and your mental health isn't his responsibility to fix
