nobody’s saying they should have a press conference. i think it’s reasonable to want people with huge following to at least post a donation link or something. they’re called influencers for a reason, should they only be expected to influence for mega corporations and not for valid causes?
oop i meant like there’s people who have just followers, no money coming from it other than monetization. and then there’s people who have followers, monetization, and brand deals on top of those. idk i guess that bit doesn’t matter. i just don’t see why people who crack jokes online have to be activists. same way that i don’t post statements about stuff, but i donate quietly.
i think it needs to be said that there are a bunch of ppl online who dramatize the amount of effort people should put into things to sit on their own moral high horse. but i think you’re being purposely obtuse by saying “i don’t think ppl have to be activists”. it’s literally fine that they aren’t activists (not everyone is meant to be!!!!!!!), but it’s okay to question why ppl wouldn’t use their platform for some good, even if it’s just sharing resources😭
