There was actually a recent big lawsuit where a West Virginia man successfully sued because he had to do Alcoholics Anonymous as part of his parole and they didn’t provide him with a non-religious alternative option. You can’t do the “acknowledge a higher power” step if you don’t believe in one

“Secular” but they get away with that with saying “as we understood him” but I’ve never seen any secularity in any of the meetings I’ve been to or worked.

Addiction recovery group? How is that a bad thing? To want people to get better?

They’re “not religious” saying they’re secular and your vision of “god” can be whatever you decide, but it is HEAVILY christian-coded, unfortunately.

“But it can be anything you want it to be!” Says the group of christians trying to push more religious reliance when people are at their lowest…

My dad would say stuff like that because Boy Scouts actually has the same vague “higher power” requirement (which is fucking asinine). But like dude we all know you mean God but you don’t get to decide that I have to subscribe to that too. I don’t believe in any vague deity or anything spiritual. I literally don’t believe in a higher power and you don’t get to gatekeep my beliefs.
