I still have no idea how to use Ao3. It looked like an old search engine to me and it was confusing.

I still stand by ao3 being the best place for amateur writers to post their work, and though it is primarily fanfic, there is an “original work” category. The filtering system is also pretty good so you can include/exclude certain tags and curate what you see.

I always hear that it’s good. I wish I could figure it out. I’m into a lot of urban stuff when it comes to reading and I don’t ever hear about urban black writers on there. Even on twitter, I’m in a couple writing communities but watt-pad and kindle seems to be the hot spot for black writers.

Ah I see, I admit I mainly use ao3 for writing/reading fanfic and the site is mainly centered around that is a bit of a blind spot. There probably is original works but idk what the particular tag would be.

yeah ao3 is built with fan works specifically in mind, so if ur looking for original works it’s more difficult. i’ve been using it since i was 13 (now 21) so the filtration system is pretty natural to me, think of it like filtering in a library if that makes sense? ao3 also has a very thorough user guide to the filters somewhere, i read it before i really started reading much of anything and it gave me a pretty strong understanding of how to use it
