My hot take is lds is one of those rare cults that survives the death of their founder

Literally they tried to kill this cult all over the country as they fled from city to city too, idk how they failed

Simple, they established Utah. Kinda hard to kill a cult that has an entire state

I think they only got it bc it was Mexican territory at the time, I believe. I do think there was some kinda war or conflict between them and the federal government over that land but I don’t think I finished watching that video that delved into Utah’s history lol

I didn’t know about all that I just knew that’s where John whatshisface took his followers and that the church has HEAVY influence on the government there.

Yes Joseph smith! This is the video I watched if you’re curious! He’s a journalist and ex Mormon. I’m way too obsessed with the Mormons for some reason lol

Wait no it wasn’t Joseph smith bc he was killed in like Missouri or Illinois I think lol. I think Brigham young led them to Utah after his death? Need to brush up on my Mormon history

Yeah I only know random facts that ex-Mormons tell on their social media, like how polygamy exists in the church (or at least the fundamentalist side) because Joe couldn’t keep it in his pants or how it’s actual doctrine that black people are black because of their “sins”.
