
A lot of people who have been assaulted sometimes don’t speak up at all for many reasons. Fear of not being believed. Being embarrassed. Not even realizing that you were assaulted at the time. Being scared. It’s a very hard thing to do and like she said, she finally built up the courage to do so which is a huge accomplishment.
My assault was actually pretty serious, but I didn’t realize that it counted as assault until months later when my friends told me that it wasn’t a normal thing that guys do sometimes that’s annoying. At that point, I felt like I couldn’t say anything because it had been months and we had already broken up for other reasons, but what he did still impacted me. It was serious, it still is serious. I didn’t report it because I knew people would take those few months as evidence that I was faking it
