Dude like I get it on one hand but on another that’s so cruel. “Unwanted pets” what the fuck

i fear i don’t get it bc that’s such an inhumane way to put down a pet like you really want their last moments to be full of fear?

Girl I wasn’t even thinking of it like that I was thinking an even more inhumane way where they just basically gave up all their domesticated animals and expected them to just run for their life as a lion just enjoys the hunt

The only reason why I’m thinking why they’d ask that is maybe bc they want the lions to keep their natural instincts and had me wondering if they’re struggling to keep their animals fed. When I read it more it makes sense when it’s an already dying animal but horrible imagery of this possibility

Hey, I mean it’s better than letting your pet loose and then it becomes an invasive species

Honestly I hope you get fed to the lions

from what i’ve read and heard about this, they plan to euthanize the animals before they’re fed to the lions? i’m not 100% so don’t quote me. but that idk kinda makes it make less sense because then the lion isn’t actively hunting for its food still, just eating meat of prey. i’ve been so flabbergasted by this none of it makes any sense.

No yeah I did read it later and you are right. it’s just so baffling. Like where did their morals go just say “hey guys so since your pet is dying already, how about we take them and put them out of their misery and let our lions eat every last bone there is” like what the fuck idk that’s how I’m taking it. Not that they are saying exactly that

Wdym. You’d rather there be invasive species??

Genuinely. I don’t get the issue

this is not being used for invasive species. it is for “unwanted pets.”

It’s different if it’s like a cat or dog - usually those aren’t released to the wild after the owner gets tired of them. Usually things like iguanas or snakes or other “unusual” pets

No, ik, but if the other alternative is releasing the pet into the wild, then this is better. It costs money to take your pet to the vet to get them euthanized, so sometimes ppl let their odd pets go wild and that eventually becomes an invasive species in some cases

well i think the alternative is surrendering your animal to a shelter

True. I just know in Florida, iguanas are a problem, and part of the reason they’re a problem is bc ppl let their pet iguanas loose after they got tired of them

that would literally be the same as if your parents gave you up to one as a child. they chose to have you and care for you so far, then they decide they no longer want you, and give you away to a zoo for you to be euthanized and fed to a LION. also invasive species as pets do not further the problem as long as they aren’t mating and being released into the wild, which is unusual. pets aren’t invading and disrupting ecosystems in someone’s home yk

that’s so awful. i was not aware of this but if it is an issue you would think they would think of something different like placing stronger restrictions on getting a pet

Ok, but it literally happens with pets (yes, ik it sucks that ppl let their pets loose after they get tired of them).

It’s better to have a shelter or something, but some shelters kill pets too, so if they’re gonna die anyway… (just saying)

But hopefully they like euthanize the pet, that would make it a little better if they must do it

I thought you were one of those people that agreed with Australians killing cats cuz cats are considered an invasive species over there. I thought you were calling all forms of pets invasive but either way giving “unwanted pets” is awful and those people should be charged bc you willingly took in an animal that can’t take care of themselves and now that you actually have to take care of them and put time and effort now you don’t want them?

I have 2 pets and man they love me to death. And vice versa. They act like they’re my kids sometimes because they show signs of empathy and most notably, all their feelings. Their tantrums and jealousy and clinginess and all in between. How could someone give them up even if they’re dying? People like that deserve some form of punishment. They’re not humans but they still have a soul and feelings
