I(f20) have a job offer in the town my bf(m20) lives in, and no job offers in my hometown for the summer. My parents think it's not smart for me to go bc I won't save as much money. I'm still looking for jobs at home but it's rough. (Cont.)

Imo you should take it, even if it’s not a chance to save a lot of money it would be good for your career/to add to your resume. Also, is it possible for you to live with your bf to split the costs?

I don't want to disappoint either. I'm worried if I go l'Il strain me and my parents relationship but if I don't go then im disappointing my partner (we've been dating almost two years btw) and also myself. I genuinely don't know what to do.

That’s what the plan is! He’s not making me pay rent but I would obviously buy groceries and other household stuff to make sure I’m contributing to the household. The job is in Cali and I’m from Oregon so the cost of living is higher but also the pay is higher so that’s why they’re saying I’m not going to save as much

That’s already much better than if you had to rent a place just for yourself! And tbh, at this point in your life (when you’re young and I assume have no financial dependents) it’s more important that you gain experience and build up your resume. Of course don’t take a job if if pays low as shit because money’s still important, but I think if it pays decently and you can live with your bf you should go for it
