yeah cuz they’re all circle jerking eachother with the upvote button. imo there isn’t much you can do online. they know they have other peoples approval, so if you try and say like “that’s lame” they won’t believe you because “look at all my upvotes”. but you will encounter them in person and when you do it’s likely you’ll be around other people who will take the hint it’s not cool. so even just a weird or disgusted look or a “you sound so lame” will do and ignore them when they try to say
