Healthcare first bby. Perhaps LPN? Shorter time but good pay and you could work 3 days a week while pursuing a BA

Look in to getting your CMAA (certified medical administrative assistant) with billing and coding included. It’s a relatively short program if you work at it consistently and can elevate your wage range. And then from there you can go back to school for your passion 💅

I work at a community college and we offer this as a self-paced, fully online class. And we hear pretty frequently about how “worth it” this cert is lol

Just know that medical billing and coding they don’t really hire people with little experience and I hear it’s hard to get into and bc it’s one of those “chiller” healthcare jobs it’s competitive

Yep!! It’s basically a class where you learn medical terminology to help as an admin, and with “billing and coding” thrown in there as well, you have a certificate stating you know how to bill insurances and people and how to code the charges. You can get trained on the job for this but you won’t get a cert and you won’t make as much $$

Totally do it! I’ve heard nothing but good things about getting this cert, and it’s one of the more popular ones, so it’s worth the time and money (I’d assume… idk I’m a coordinator not a CMAA😂😂)

I think because OP has admin experience already, b&c would be more attainable. Demand typically depends on where you live— bigger cities it will be more competitive for sure but smaller cities and rural areas (based on other healthcare stats I know of) it would be a bit less competitive. But starting as an admin and working up to b&c being “promoted” from within is the route I usually suggest because I’ve seen it work for others!!
