what’s crazy is i knew and i stayed. he was unable to feel guilt and was self aware of that. so he’d hurt me and not change and nothing prevented him from doing it again (which he would). his live was greedy and he lived in excess with sx/drvgs/alc bc it was “fun”. and he chose to leave for another girl

sociopaths scare me bc people who are “psychopaths” (i know that term isn’t used anymore, but they don’t really feel anything) whereas sociopaths do feel but subconsciously choose not to have any for people and they have heighten God complexes

Tbf, both sociopath and psychopath are outdated and both are collectively under antisocial personality disorder. I don’t believe the second bit of info you gave is quite accurate.

it’s not really more of choose, it’s a disorder. some feel nothing and don’t see an issue wrong with it and don’t care to understand or some feel nothing and know it’s a morally wrong thing even if they themselves don’t feel the same way. some feel, but only for themselves and slightly for others. it all depends tbh, i think that’s why it’s outdated. sociopath is still used today i know, but not for a disorder but for tendencies, at least my friend who’s getting his masters in psych rn said.

I’m curious which dsm-5 he’s using then because not even “sociopathic tendencies” is used in the current. (They did have us using old copies at one point so maybe that’s why he said so too)

i think he only said that to me so i can understand more, he knows antisocial personality is on a scale and some are more than others or some exhibit more symptoms then others
