So there are these rods and you out like 3 or 4 in. You take them from the end of your hair and roll them to the root then one end of the rod clips to the other. I used satin the first time which I think was my problem. I just ordered the velvet ones so maybe they will stick better. But I used mine last night and after fighting with it a bit, I got it. My hair had so much volume and was so pretty this morning
