I just learned if you have an iron deficiency you’re chances of passing out/fainting are VERY high due to low iron impacting your body temp regulation! Please be safe outside, take your supplements, eat high iron food, drink your water.

This has happened to me multiple times over the years and didn’t know the reason why until yesterday so I’m just spreading awareness

if you have iron deficiency (ferritin under 100) read the linked guide. most supplements recommend by drs are low bioavailability bc they haven’t read the current literature about it. some can even make the deficiency worse

My hemoglobin is in the single digits but because my body refuses to ingest iron and I'm allergic to iron IV I'm all lucked out.

Yes absolutely but kinda off on part of it. You aren’t passing out because your body temp is low, you’re passing out because iron is part of making your hemoglobin (your red blood cells that carry oxygen around your body) so low iron means low hemoglobin which makes a lower blood volume and less oxygen. That makes your brain not get enough oxygen/blood especially when standing which can cause you to pass out and can also cause low body temperature.

I’m also ordering an Iron Fish to put in my food while I cook, I’ve read that that and cast iron skillets help get more iron than the supplements (please correct me if I’m wrong)

i don’t think it offers more iron than heme iron supplements. it might offer more than non heme supplements which are a lot more common and have really poor bioavailability. the iron you’ll get from the pan is pretty low but it’s not nothing. any bit helps

this is from my iron deficiency support group. the group expert is only recommending it bc the person in question’s iron is so low she can start to have seizures!

I’ve been anemic many times before and my go to is always spinach in smoothies. That way I can get my vitamin C and Iron at the same time which really helps with absorption. (You can’t taste the spinach at all)

Red meats don’t sit too well with me often so that’s not my preferred method to get iron.
