There’s plenty of times to use female and male as well as men and women. We really going though this again? I use male plenty, and they don’t get pissy about it.

Females when they get called females

Yes but female has been used in a derogatory way for women due to the historical context behind it. I think you too can use context clues and assume that OP meant that their mother used female in times where it was unneeded instead of women.

Maybe it has to do with the root forward for female being “one who sucks”

Are you slow 😭 it’s “suckling”, like the female is the one to nurse her young…?

Which is derived from the Proto-Indo-European root *dhe(i)-, meaning “to suck”, as the screenshot clearly states, ya dingus.

Correct, the word root means “to suck” referring to the infant of the species and the female of the species is the one that suckles the infant.
This definition is in no way associating “female” with sucking, but rather as “those that are sucked upon”.
