Omigosh, exactly!! Low-key, this is just like ‘dude’ to me! It can definitely be used - and often is - in a gender-neutral way, for sure. …But at the end of the day, in most default scenarios, if someone says ‘this dude walked in,’ the mental image is…almost always gonna be a man. It just goes to show that some guys really can’t handle when the usual cultural-linguistic default isn’t them for once. (Sorry for being a total yapper 😭)

it’s really not that hard to respect someone’s preferences 💀 they might just not be comfortable with it. my dad doesn’t like being called “bro” by anyone, and I can respect that. some people just don’t like it. just respect their wishes even if you don’t understand it.
