It’s hard living in a country that criticizes and hates women for everything they do on various sides of either extreme too slurry too prudish too fat too skinny too loud too quiet too girly too masculine etc., while simultaneously depending on us for everything and then looking us in the face and saying you do it better than me but we’re natural leaders

she said “It’s really cool to come somewhere and everybody looks exactly like you” and then rest of the statement was “you’re all just as pasty as me.” it is a self-depreciating joke, but a lot of people don’t know the rest of the statement so they would still be right to say it could be a bit tone deaf when stripped of the full statement. it’s really just something online people can perform think pieces on until they move on
