Also another thing that was super cool about the guide was they consulted members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (they’re the original caretakers of the land the Smokies are on) for the guide and they had a few words written in the Kituwah dialect of Tsalagi (Cherokee language) sprinkled throughout the booklet with English translations and I’m a bit of a linguistics nerd so I was definitely geeking out over that too!!!

My mom and I did the activity books and got sworn in at Yellowstone and Glacier on a family trip back in ‘21 and now we’re competing to see who can rack up the most titles (she’s also a JR at Stones River but that’s a battlefield and not a park so even though we each have 3 titles I technically have more Park Ranger titles)
