Let’s look at this statement: “Not all men are bad” True. However! It’s impossible to tell, just by looking at a man, what he’s capable of. So, instead of finding out, as a blanket rule it’s okay to say all men are bad. I don’t want to find out…

Why do you think that? It’s a true statement. Not all men are bad. I know plenty of good men. But I’m already familiar with them and their hearts. I can’t say that about everyone.

Instead of finding out we should just say all women are sluts. As a blanket rule.

be around you alone, offer you food or drink, go to a second location, to have your number or photos, the list goes on

Were you ever open to those things?

but statistically the crimes and rapes are done by men with insane majority numbers, so it’s a safe assumption and risk assessment, while, first of all, being a slut isn’t necessarily a danger, but also isn’t most women at all. in fact it’s a small minority that enjoy having sex causally. not to mention societal repercussions for both and the discrepancies there.

sure? yeah thanks for being more specific lol if you mean have i been open to trusting a man in those situations, then yes ofc i’ve made the mistake of trusting a man. we all have.

Of course men are more likely. They are typically much larger and stronger than women. That wasn’t the point of what I said.

most rapes aren’t violent and i didn’t specify violent crimes either. women can do crimes and rape but they choose not to. regardless if that’s the reason men do, it’s still true that men do these things and so it’s fair to assume through a risk assessment process that all individuals do until proven otherwise. you made a bad point. that’s what i was showing. that it was a false equivalency.

It wasn’t meant to be equivalent. The point I was making was that calling the entirety of the male population bad is quite dumb. So I made it comparable to calling the entire woman population sluts. And the point you made is just backing up the stupidity of the original argument. If that’s how you should view an entire population, we should just assume that all African American people are criminals unless proven otherwise, or all women are sluts unless proven otherwise. It’s a stupid argument.

right but the majority of those groups aren’t those things, while we don’t know the numbers for men because of a broken justice system, hence the assumption. again, you’re just trying to make an equivalency, meaning “well that doesn’t make sense cause if you look at this equal context point, it’s not right” except it isn’t equal. we also know black people don’t necessarily do more crime. they’re arrested and imprisoned for more crime which is different and we have causes.

also no one is necessarily arguing all men do these things. we’re arguing it’s safe to assume they do because of easy risk analysis. the risk of trusting an unsafe man outweighs the risk of distrusting a safe man, so why would you take that risk, when the possibility is rape or murder.

Ok then we can say we don’t necessarily know men rape more. They’re arrested and imprisoned for it more. That argument doesn’t work.

Alright with that mentality just don’t ever come in contact with a person again. There’s no point to because there is a risk of you running into a murderer and the risk outweighs having contact with people.

i said we know the causes. we know black ppl are systematically oppressed and will be arrested for crime more because police will target them, based on research. and men aren’t arrested for rape. another reason why so many women distrust men first. if something does happen there isn’t a real mechanism to imprison that man. 97% of rape perpetrators never go to jail for it. Also, again, rape happens significantly more often than murder and it’s much more societally casual, so the fears are fair.

we have research on women’s reports and men’s reports too about rape and we know definitively that men rape more obviously and that it is relatively common and goes unpunished. also girls are raised to be incredibly cautious and safe to avoid this commonality, so it’s a natural extension to distrust men, first, as we are taught to, but second, to protect ourselves because that’s the world we have to live in.

This argument isn’t going anywhere. I don’t feel like responding anymore. We both clearly have different views about this, and I respect your opinion. Thank you for the conversation.

My point is that if the rule was real, you would never be in community with men

sure but my point is that it’s human to trust and want connection. most people don’t wanna be alone and without love, so we’re cautious and we try to connect, but for many of us that tends to be a mistake that we try to learn from and change our behavior is the future. it’s not a hard rule that we all just happen upon and stick to as soon as we turn 12. that’s not how ppl work.
