yeah but it’s not fair to expect all immigrants to be able to come here legally. trying to take the legal route can take YEARS, even if u have family in the us, and just bc uve done the paperwork doesnt mean whatever ur escaping from has stopped. immigrants don’t come here just to “steal jobs” or whatever, they come here to get a better life and do the jobs that we NEED but that most people won’t. leviticus 19:33-34

if you want to be here legally, you have to work for it. in life, if you want something bad enough, you’ll be willing to work hard to get it. nothing is going to be given to you on a silver platter. i saw a girl who got her citizenship after 12 years. whether it takes that amount of time, shorter, or longer, they worked for it because they wanted it.

I’m not agreeing that people should break the law, but residing illegally is a CIVIL OFFENCE on par with jaywalking. Meaning that the law is not the reason why people are being treated the way they are. Racism is. And I will die on that hill.

The people in charge currently are rejecting the laws by that are currently put in place. What does that say about them? So who are we now meant to follow? The law or the government? Because currently those two things are opposing forces and JESUS HIMSELF in Matthew 12:25 says that “a house divided cannot stand.”

How are we meant to obey a government that struggles to obey its own laws? I am incredibly curious.

The law and the safety of citizens along with our taxes going towards illegals is the reason. Every country has border standards, none of it stems from the color of skin people have. Whenever the left side can’t understand another persons view they blame racism which is not the reason! Yes some people can be and are racist and that is disgusting but border control is not stemming from racism.

No no, because that IS what it’s about. Because yes, America has an immigration problem. I agree with that. But the brute force being exerted on these people whose only crime is residing on the wrong side of a fence IS racism. AND it’s meant to instil fear into people. The verse from Leviticus and the one from Romans can coexist. Yes, follow the law. However, if there is a person breaking the law—and such a minuscule one, at that— they do not deserve to have their humanity stripped from them.

Humans are being HUNTED at their children’s elementary school graduations. At their workplaces. Over something that has the same legal standing as a parking ticket. People who have been going to their immigration hearings. Toddlers are being forced to REPRESENT THEMSELVES IN IMMIGRATION COURT without their parents present. None of that is lawful. And the crimes being committed by the government take MUCH HIGHER legal precedence than a person who overstayed their visa.

I’m sorry but the first statement is stupid. My family and I are immigrants. We came here legally from a country an ocean away and it took years. Why can’t people who share a BORDER with the US also put in the same work and came here the right way? We know immigrants build this country, but trying to justify coming here illegally is kinda crazy, and it feels like a slap in the face to people who struggled and came here the right way.

Dude please chill out. I’m an international student. I’m not American so I don’t really know everything regarding the impacts of immigration in America. I know that we contribute a lot to society there, but at the same time, I think what really needs to change is how long it takes to get approval for citizenship.

I am pretty chill. I haven’t said anything ill willed towards you, I’m simply stating my ideas upon the situation. And I agree with you, if they want to start deporting immigrants for being illegal then they need to find a reasonable way for people to come here that doesn’t take 20+ years

I think people already residing in America who have no legal status there but are on the list of those trying to gain citizenship should be allowed to stay until their case is finished being processed. I think those who simply came in entirely illegally and have not begun the citizenship process should be deported until they begin the process of gaining citizenship. Not because they don’t belong there or anything, but because it makes the most sense with the current American immigration laws.

Too many reasons to list really. Above all, immigration is something that should be controlled. There is universal agreement on this - every country has immigration laws and no country has completely open borders. Every country chooses how many people to accept into their borders and exactly which people they are. So your policy of not choosing who enters and how many is so radical that not a single country on earth has it. That should clue you in.
