Exactly! It’s also fully remote and almost a completely a self paced project except for like 1 or 2 zoom check in meetings a week. I’m going to be able to do it at the same time as my caretaking job because a lot of the time it is just sitting around watching while my client watches tv or plays with her toys for example

Also while being a doula (for labor, miscarriage, abortion, postpartum, death, etc) has no real certifications and no like legally set training, this internship will make me a very qualified abortion and miscarriage doula right out the gate basically. Im gonna get doula training and be creating a toolkit to teach campuses across my state to implement abortion doula programs to provide support for students in need of abortion or reproductive healthcare. This is such a miracle opportunity for me🥹

Thank you boo🥰💕💖 like I mentioned in another comment, there are no legal requirements to becoming a double for labor, postpartum, abortion, miscarriage, and more. Anyone can get into this as a job or long term career if they would like to by searching local orgs that provide the training. Just in case anyone here would like to look into it☺️

Ofc! I was also raised in a prolife family and was told “all people at planned parenthood are heartless” and while I knew that wasn’t true, experiencing the exact opposite both gave me hope and had me feeling so disappointed in how people villainize those who care so deeply

I appreciate that you saved it to continue sharing♥️ and you’re right a big part of the job of abortion doulas and doulas in general is simply education so people don’t take unsafe measures or listen to bad sources but also so they know about the resources available to them locally and virtually whether it be medical, financial, emotional, spiritual, legal, etc.

Yeah I’m in OK and it’s really difficult trying to have a conversation with someone who this could impact, but because they haven’t experienced it personally they are arguing loudly against other women.

I am also of the opinion that the babies forced to be born are immediately entering a negative situation whether it be a foster system or being parented by someone who is not capable of/ does not want to be raising a child but was forced to. That’s not fair to to kid and forces trauma and them aside from the trauma the mother faces from forced birth.
