I’m an older sister by 7 years as well! Try asking about her interests (hey, are there any shows/bands/hobbies you’re into right now?) and engage with her that way. Buy her small things here and there, get her gifts that “reminded you of her.” She’d probably appreciate just feeling seen. Take her to lunch or grab boba together. It gets easier with time, my sister and I are super close now, but it used to be awkward.

Also, depending on her age, just be mindful about how you talk to her! Especially as an older brother, she’ll probably take everything you say to/about her to heart. Good and bad. Never criticize her interests or appearance (even when she starts experimenting with things like makeup and looks crazy🤣). My brother is 15 years older than me, and I still remember thinking he was the coolest guy on the planet. He would always hype me up and I feel like it really helped my confidence at that age.
