I keep seeing people whose Bibles are highlighted in all these different colors and notes everywhere. I don’t get it. I’ve read different books of the Old and New but not recently. I want to do stuff like that too. But I’m not sure how it works

i personally don’t understand why people highlight in different colors either, but i know it’s also subjective! you can study by reading passages and noting questions that you have, or study with a theme in mind. like themes of light or themes of subverted worldly standards/expectations. try not to worry so much about how other people are doing it because there’s not really a wrong way. i know there are tons of online resources too that can be really good study guides

That’s so real😭 I honestly just highlight the verses that I have questions about or that the Holy Spirit speaks to me about. Or one that I want to memorize

Last time I tried, I just wanted to highlight EVERYTHING. So how do people choose what to highlight. How do they study the Bible.. I probably sound so stupid. I just want to do it right. At least try to

i use an ESV that has lines for notes in the margins, and that is super helpful for writing down thoughts and questions. i’d probably start with a book like Mark and look for themes within the stories. especially noting which kind of stories get sandwiched together, and what the writer placed in the middle of those

like for instance the passage mark 9.24 is in, it’s highlighting the faith of a gentile in the midst of the unbelief of the israelites who should have known Jesus

I think my Bible is ESV as well. But honestly, I kinda prefer the KJV/NKJV bc that’s what I grew up with in church. I just like the wording, even though it isn’t how people speak now. Mine barely has space for notes though so maybe I should get a new one..
