 I was walking my dog this morning and found a Killdeer caught up in netting. Poor guy had his neck all wrapped up in it and was freaking out. I freed him and am currently nursing him back to health so that he’s strong enough to fly again!

Awww these little guys always freaked me out because they’d build their nests on the ground in the rocks around the pond at my parents’ house. It would take me forever to mow around there because I’d be constantly stopping to check the ground 😭

This is my first time handling one and he’s such a cool dude! Apparently they like to play dead and prey to be broken to lure predators away from their nests. I really hope he makes a full recovery!

They do!! I totally forgot how they’d pretend to limp around near their nests. That was pretty helpful as far as avoiding crushing their babies. I’m sure the little guy is happy you saved him 🫶🏼

Awe thank you! I built a little nest for him in my dogs crate and have a plate of water and some foliage in there for him. He’s in a dark quiet room resting right now. I’ve called so many wildlife rehabilitation centers around my town but nobody will answer/call back/help 😡

I bet he’s mostly just dehydrated and exhausted from struggling, hopefully the water and rest is enough :)

I love birds, man. Penguins are my favorite animals. And yesss small acts of kindness can make such a difference a huge impact. I wish more people were willing to just simply be nice & kind
